Planets and Stars
“So as I get older sometimes I don’t know why I paint this way. I look up there in the sky, and ask to become great. I look up and I ask to become great. I don’t go to church like I say, but I look up there in heaven, and ask the almighty for help.” Young discussed his belief in a higher purpose in relation to the sky and he would often paint the cosmos flanking images. In the pages that follow, angels, warriors, horses, and pregnant women are elevated to a celestial realm. In the final painting, an angel stands on a truck next to a seated guitar player with the heavens above.
